How does it work?

Tui na (pronounced “twee-naw”) massage is one of the four branches of TCM along with acupuncture, qi gong, and herbal medicine, and is one of the oldest forms of bodywork. Like acupuncture, this ancient Chinese treatment focuses on specific acupuncture points and channels. But instead of using needles, tui na practitioners apply pressure to the body using physical, hands-on techniques. The purpose of tui na is to restore physiological balance when qi or blood is blocked, which can cause pain and other ailments.

Tui na is performed with the patient laying down in a relaxed position, laying face down or up depending on the areas of the body that the practitioner will focus on. Practitioners can use their fingers, hands, elbows, and knees to apply pressure to the various acupuncture points on your body.

By applying pressure to your acupoints, tui na activates the smooth flow of qi to promote better health.
